November 2026 at Your Local Lincs

November 2026 Your Local Lincs MagazineNovember has arrived, bringing with it darker evenings, crisp autumn days and the unmistakable feeling that Christmas is just around the corner. But before we get carried away with mince pies and festive lights, there’ll be an opportunity to pause and reflect, with Remembrance events taking place in Sleaford. The stunning display of poppies cascading down the front of St Denys Church is still looking magnificent, despite the recent stormy weather, providing a striking reminder of the sacrifices made by so many.

As always, we’ve got an exciting edition of Your Local Lincs for you this November. You’ve got the chance to brighten one of your autumn afternoons in our competition to win afternoon tea for two at one of our favourite local eateries, The Green Man in Ropsley. If you’re not lucky enough to win this fantastic prize, look out for another delicious treat in the form of our recipe for spiced ginger loaf.

Here at YLL, we’ve been busy planning for this year’s Christmas Tree Festival, which will once again be taking place at the Methodist Church on Northgate. We think we’re just about there with our design; now we just have to make it! The festival takes place over the final weekend of the month, and on Advent Sunday we’ll see the return of the Sleaford Christmas Market. It looks set to be another special occasion, with live music, horse-drawn carriage rides, street entertainment and, of course, the big guy himself in his sleigh!

Poppies at St Denys Church in SleafordBefore all those festivities begin, thoughts turn to more solemn matters as we hear from Major Clive Candlin of the Royal British Legion, who fills us in on what’s happening for this year’s Remembrance events. A couple of weeks later, we’ll be swapping red poppies for another symbol to wear on our lapels for White Ribbon Day. This important day reminds us that we all have a part to play in preventing violence against women and girls.

Wherever November finds you, we hope this month’s edition brings you closer to the people, events and causes that matter in our local community. Keep an eye out for our new advertisers, and please join us in giving them a warm welcome. We pay one of them a visit, Mayfield Vineyard in Burton Pedwardine, to discover more about this hidden gem nestled in the local countryside.

As ever, thank you for reading and for continuing to support the wonderful people, businesses and community groups that make our area such a special place to live.

Have a great month and we'll see you next time.
