Summer is here, and so is show season. Last month it was time for the Lincolnshire Show and, of course, this month sees the return of the GOAT of village shows, the Heckington Show!

To whet your appetite, we've included a few snaps from our fantastic day out at the Lincolnshire Show. Highlights included taking a ‘flight’ with the Red Arrows in a simulator, meeting plenty of alpacas (which seemed fitting after giving away an alpaca experience in last month's magazine), and chatting with several local radio stations.

One of the DJs we met was Rob Hammond from Magna Radio, who recorded us for his show and asked what we love most about Lincolnshire. Listen out on 6th July to find out if we made the final edit! We also bumped into Heckington Show chairman Charles Pinchbeck, who was no doubt getting some valuable match practice in ahead of the Heckington Show.

Family tickets to the Heckington Show are up for grabs in the July magazine, while our second competition offers a selection of fantastic prizes from Fairfield Community Farm in Ruskington. It's a place we've visited before and one that does incredible work with the help of its dedicated volunteers, not to mention its adorable animals.

Paradox of Ravens - Eye of the StormMusic fans are also in for a treat. We've been listening to local band Paradox of Raven's new album, Eye of the Storm, and we're giving away three copies of it this month. The band will also be performing live at The Hub in Sleaford on 12th July.

Elsewhere in this edition, Alcohol Awareness Week (6th–12th July) has inspired us to create some refreshing mocktail recipes, perfect for enjoying during the summer heat. We're delving into more of Sleaford's fascinating history ahead of upcoming Heritage Open Days, while Julie and Mel got creative for Create Week with a fused glass workshop hosted by The Glass Hippie in Osbournby.

You'll also find information on the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance appeal to help fund a second helicopter, alongside plenty of What's On listings and community features.

And finally, if you've got something exciting happening, a new business, shop, service or event, and you'd like people across Sleaford and the surrounding villages to know about it, we'd love to help. Get in touch to find out what advertising with Your Local Lincs can do for you. Many of our advertisers tell us just how much of a difference local advertising makes, and we'd love to help you share your story too.
