Coming to the Playhouse Cinema…
Family. Fraud. Fine art.
Julian Sklar (a deliciously cantankerous Sir Ian MKellen), once a celebrated star of the 1960s art scene, now lives barricaded inside his chaotic London studio, guarding a rumoured stash of unfinished masterpieces. His estranged children (James Corden, Jessica Gunning), desperate and deeply opportunistic, hatch a plan: send in Lori (Michaela Coel), a sharp‑eyed young painter with a talent for forgery, to pose as Julian’s new assistant and quietly liberate the valuable canvases.
What follows is a sly, slow‑burn caper of shifting loyalties, creative deceit and generational one‑upmanship, as three hustlers circle each other in a house full of secrets. Everyone wants a piece of Julian’s legacy — no one plans to play fair.
