Sleaford Little Theatre presents…
Set in Girton College, Cambridge in 1896, Blue Stockings follows four young women studying at the first college to admit female students. Although they can attend lectures and sit exams, they are not allowed to graduate with degrees. The play explores their fight for equality as they face opposition from male students, academic pressure, and difficult personal choices. At its heart is Tess Moffat, who must choose between love and her education. As tensions rise and a vote on women’s degrees approaches, conflict erupts. When the vote ultimately fails, the women are left devastated but determined to continue fighting for their rights.
