In November 2025, Sleaford Repair Cafe celebrated its 21st Repair Cafe, and since the first event in 2022 they have helped to repair over 600 items.
Sleaford Repair Cafes are held every two months at the Riverside Church Hall on Southgate. When you take your item you are matched up with a ‘fixer’ who has the skills to get it working again. You sit with the fixer and watch your item being repaired, so you can pick up some new skills and save money too, as all the repairs are free!
Many items taken in for repair are electrical and top of the list are lamps, closely followed by vacuum cleaners, toasters, radios, irons and hairdryers. They have a busy sewing circle and have sewn, stitched and repaired lots of jackets, trousers, skirts and dresses, as well as rucksacks and other textiles. They’ve repaired bikes and trikes, scooters and toys including a Thomas the Tank Engine! They’ve stuck together plates and ornaments, repaired shopping trolleys and chairs and sharpened hundreds of garden tools. If you can carry it in to the Repair Cafe, they can likely have a go at fixing it!
The Repair Cafes are run by Sleaford Climate Network who are keen to promote more sustainable ways of living. By fixing things, it helps the planet by reducing the energy and materials needed to make new items and cuts the amount of waste created. Buy Less, Repair More!
