The Collage & Canvas joint exhibtion comes to the Carre Gallery this December, showcasing the work of two talented local artists, Laura Davies and Kim Rayner, with visitors invited to meet both artists on the evening of Tuesday 9th December.
Laura draws inspiration from landscapes she visits, her family, and her much-loved animals, particularly of the feline variety. Laura has received numerous awards for her work at the Carre Gallery, Sleaford, and also sells smaller, animal-themed pieces through Lindum Books on Lincoln’s Bailgate.
Kim creates striking textile art using a blend of embroidery, wet felting, and needle-felting. She describes her style as “naive,” evolving over the years from needlework into expressive mixed-media creations. Kim has previously exhibited at the Union Street Gallery in Grantham and at the Carre Gallery, where her work was warmly received.
Both artists share backgrounds in education, and since retiring, Kim has fully embraced her artistic journey, experimenting with thread doodles, button flowers, and detailed stitched seascapes filled with hidden treasures. Alongside her textile work, she also enjoys creating delicate watercolours.
Collage and Canvas runs from 8th to 21st December at the Carre Gallery, Carre Street, Sleaford.
