Popular friendship group coming to Sleaford
A new regular coffee morning is coming to Sleaford following the success of similar meetups in Nottingham and the surrounding areas.
Nottingham Trent Oddfellows’ first coffee morning will be at The Hub, Navigation Wharf, Carre Street, Sleaford on Tuesday 12 May from 11.45am. There will be complimentary refreshments and a selection of games to play, as well as some goodie bags to take away.
The following coffee morning will be held on Thursday 11 June, and then every second Tuesday of each month.
The launch follows similar regular meetups that Nottingham Trent Oddfellows hosts in Nottingham, Beeston, Dunkirk, Edingley and Grantham. The group aims to provide residents with opportunities to meet friendly, like-minded people in the area.
The friendship group’s members also meet up for walks, talks, day trips and meals at local restaurants.
Karen Pye-Smith, Branch Secretary at Nottingham Trent Oddfellows, said: “Our events are always well attended, with people from all sorts of backgrounds and different interests coming along.
“We think it’s important that people have the opportunity to get together and connect with others looking for the same thing in their community, so we’re excited to welcome the people of Sleaford to give our new group a try.”
Nottingham Trent Oddfellows is made up of 350 mostly older and retired local members and anyone is welcome to join. It is one of 91 branches that make up the Oddfellows’ nationwide network, which is one of the oldest and largest of its kind in the UK.
The friendly society also organises around 60 online events every month which are free and open to anyone, including a monthly member-hosted online open day where people can find out more about the organisation.
Oddfellows members can also access a variety of benefits including care and welfare support and a travel club, and there are opportunities to volunteer and contribute to fundraising initiatives.
