NEVER SAY GOODBYE

An intimate evening of songs and stories, plus an open Q & A session.

As lead singer and songwriter of The Stranglers during their golden period, Hugh Cornwell cast a spell mixing fact, history, mythology and ideology within the lyrics of the songs. It was a heady mix, leading to the band’s success throughout the world, and they became championed for experimentation and commerciality in equal measures.

Hugh was responsible for all of the band’s most memorable songs across ten stellar albums that consolidated his stature as a unique songwriter and musician. His lyrics to “Golden Brown” are a songwriting masterclass.

His solo career has led to ten albums of critically acclaimed songs, culminating in “Moments of Madness”, described as a “late flowering classic” and a “modern-day masterpiece”.

Hugh last performed acoustic solo performances in the UK in 2017 and will be heading out across the country this November 2026.

As well as dipping into both The Stranglers’ and his own wealthy catalogue of songs, he’ll be performing new songs from his next studio album, “Succubus”, the follow-up to “Moments of Madness”. These songs will be heard for the first time on this tour.

There will also be an open mic moment in the show for the audience to ask him questions, which he will answer if possible.

“I’m not sure how much longer I can continue to perform, and so this will be my final solo acoustic tour.”

The Branch hope that the public will come along and enjoy a fabulous Concert and unashamed patriotism, designed to raise funds and provide an evening of entertainment by an outstanding local Concert Band.

All funds raised will go to the Poppy Appeal and help the Royal British Legion to continue its work in supporting those currently serving, their families and ex-Service community. There will be a raffle during the evening, an RBL merchandise stall and refreshments are available in the interval.

We are also delighted to be able to welcome once again, two Chelsea Pensioners. Entry will be by programme only at £10, and will be on sale at Moore and Scrupps, Jewellers, South Gate, Sleaford; Sleaford Jewellers, Southgate, Sleaford; Ruskington Co-op Store; and leading up to the Concert, in Sleaford Tesco on certain days. Programmes will also be on sale on the evening at St George’s Academy. There is plenty of car parking space and disabled access.

For lovers of perfectly-crafted music performed by the composer, a Heart Full of Songs concert is truly an exquisite experience.

When 10cc co-founder Graham Gouldman formed what became Heart Full of Songs more than a decade ago, it was purely for the pleasure of laying the songs he wrote or co-wrote in their simplest form, acoustically.

It started as a three-piece supporting at 10cc concerts and quickly evolved into a stand-alone entity. These days Heart Full of Songs is a semi-acoustic/electric, four-piece with its next UK tour set for October 2026, comprising 18 concerts and culminating at London’s Cadogan Hall on 29 October.

Featuring material from across Graham’s catalogue, the set includes such classics as 10cc’s I’m Not In Love and Dreadlock Holiday; Bus Stop and Look Through Any Window, which were hits for The Hollies; For Your Love and Heart Full of Soul (the Yardbirds); No Milk Today (Herman’s Hermits); Bridge To Your Heart from his time with the late Andrew Gold as Wax, along with songs from film soundtracks and his solo albums.

Acknowledgement of Graham’s achievements has been growing more widely too, with him awarded an MBE in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours list, for services to music.

Also underpinning his position as one of the world’s leading songwriters were the guest contributors on his latest album, I have Notes. They include Ringo Starr, Brian May, Hank Marvin and Albert Lee.

“It is extremely gratifying to do what I love, performing the songs I’ve written or co written over the years, to audiences who really appreciate them in a semi-acoustic format,” says Graham. “With Keith Hayman, Andy Park and BenStone we have a fantastic band that presents the songs with passion and to the highest musical standards. I couldn’t ask for more.”

The increasing success of Heart Full of Songs shows how ever more people are keen to share the magic of the music with its composer.
